Title: "Trip report: Air Traffic Management research in Europe"

Abstract:

This short informal talk will describe some of the strategic advanced ATM research being undertaken at the Eurocontrol Experimental Centre near Paris and the Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile in Toulouse. Topics will

include: the Superhighway concept for team-based ATC; the Erasmus project for partial automation of conflict resolution; application of Percolation Theory to air traffic delay; and use of augmented reality for tower controllers. I'll also report briefly on a visit to ACCS Partner Investigator Guy Theraulaz at the Animal Cognition Lab in Toulouse and the lab's work on collective behaviour in animals.
